Building Financial Confidence, One Young Mind at a Time

pulse-jump was born from a simple belief: every child deserves the chance to understand money before money becomes a source of stress.

Our Story

In 2019, Dr. Elizabeth Warren left a successful career in investment banking. After fifteen years watching adults struggle with financial decisions—many of whom earned substantial incomes—she recognised a pattern. The problem wasn't income. It was education.

These capable, intelligent professionals had never been taught the fundamentals. Not at school. Not at home. They learned through trial and error, often with expensive consequences. Credit card debt. Poor investment choices. No emergency funds. The cycle repeated generation after generation.

Elizabeth started small—a weekend workshop in Clifton for eight children. Word spread. Parents saw changes in their kids' behaviour. Conversations about money shifted from awkward to natural. That first group of eight became eighty within six months.

"The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now. The same is true for financial education."

Today, pulse-jump operates from central Bristol with a team of four dedicated educators. We've partnered with over twenty local schools and taught nearly two thousand young people. But numbers only tell part of the story.

What Drives Us

Our Mission

To ensure every young person in Bristol has access to practical, engaging financial education that prepares them for real-world money management—regardless of their family's financial background.

We Believe

Financial literacy is a life skill, not an academic subject. It should be taught through doing, not lecturing. Mistakes made in a workshop are far cheaper than mistakes made with a first paycheque.

We Value

Accessibility over exclusivity. Plain language over jargon. Practical skills over theoretical knowledge. Long-term habits over quick fixes. Family involvement over isolated learning.

Our Approach

Traditional financial education often fails because it treats children like small adults. They're not. A seven-year-old doesn't care about retirement planning—but they absolutely care about whether they can afford that toy they want.

We meet learners where they are. Our younger programmes use games, stories, and hands-on activities. Our teen curricula address the actual financial questions they have: Can I afford those trainers? How do people save for a car? What even is a credit score?

Hands-on learning in one of our Teen Money Mastery sessions

Every programme includes take-home materials for parents. Financial education works best when it continues at home. We equip families with conversation starters, activities, and frameworks they can use long after our sessions end.

Community Involvement

We believe financial education should be accessible to all. That's why we partner with Bristol schools to offer subsidised programmes for students from lower-income backgrounds. We've also worked with local community centres, youth groups, and charities to extend our reach.

If your organisation works with young people and wants to bring financial education to your community, we'd love to hear from you.
